Change Your Clock, Check Your Batteries—and Hold A Fire Drill |

When we change our clocks, we’re reminded to check the batteries of our smoke alarms. Starting this year, the change of the clock should also remind us to practice a home fire drill. Fire drills are a regular part of school and workplace routines. Yet more than 80% of fire fatalities happen not at school or work, but at home. Nearly half of people killed in residential fires were trying to escape when they died. A practiced home fire drill might have saved their lives. Learn to plan and practice your home fire drill at www.homefiredrill.org, sponsored by Prevention 1 st Foundation, a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization based in Pittsford and dedicated to injury prevention.
