Hold A Fire Drill -100 Words
Change Your Clock, Check Your Batteries—and Hold A Fire Drill

When we change our clocks, we’re reminded to check the batteries of our smoke alarms. Starting this year, the change of the clock should also remind us to practice a home fire drill.

Fire drills are a regular part of school and workplace routines. Yet more than 80% of fire fatalities happen not at school or work, but at home.

Nearly half of people killed in residential fires were trying to escape when they died. A practiced home fire drill might have saved their lives.

Learn to plan and practice your home fire drill at www.homefiredrill.org, sponsored by Prevention 1 st Foundation, a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization based in Pittsford and dedicated to injury prevention.
